... are held the fourth Tuesday of most months at the United Methodist Church at 7400 Pioneer Way, near downtown Gig Harbor. Social hour at 5:30pm; business meeting at 6pm; art demo / program at 7pm. (Note: Please don't park in the"Visitor"spots in the parking lot.)

Upcoming meetings:

January 26, 2016 -- We start the new year with a watercolor demonstration by PAL member Karen Petrillose, whose painting, "Reflections on Waughop Lake," won Best of Show in our Fall Members' Show.

February 23 -- Program: presentations by PAL scholarship recipients Emily Porter, Charli Mecham, Cathie Johnson and Mikki Parkhurst. They will show and tell about the work they created in workshops last year in composition, watercolor and pastel. This is a screening month. March 22 -- Kathleen McKeehan demonstrates her watercolor dry brush technique for creating botanicals, bugs and birds.

April 26 -- PAL member Bob Knapp talks about Getting Tech-ready for entering art shows.

May 24 -- PAL member Mary McInnis shares her Monterey Experience -- plein air oils. This is a screening month. See "Miscellaneous Forms" page for screening guidelines.

June 28 -- Patty Finnegan will demonstrate painting with ink and alcohol on paper.

July 16 & 17 -- Our 32nd annual Summer Art Festival and members' summer show.

   Featured Artists -- At every general meeting, we have a display of work by three of our members. Each Featured Artist brings a few pieces of their work and is available to chat during the social hour. This gives us a chance to get to know one another better as artists and to show off our latest creations. Contact Roberta Rogers at if you'd like to display your work at a meeting.

    Our Fall Members' Show took place in November at Kimball Gallery. Thirty-one paintings were entered and juror Michael Johnson selected six paintings for awards: Karen Petrillose won Best of Show; Lynda Linder won 1st Place; Cindy Baij -- 2nd place; Dorothy Short Paul -- 3rd Place; Mary McInnis and Karen Robbins each won Honorable Mention. The winning photos are shown below.

    Netshed Show encore -- Harbor History Museum is hosting a repeat showing of paintings of Gig Harbor's historic netsheds. In addition to paintings by PAL artists, historical photos and stories of the netsheds are also included. The show ends on Feb. 14.

    Ongoing: TCC Gig Harbor -- PAL members are invited to show their work in the TCC gallery. Shows change every two months. Contact Roberta Rogers at for information on the TCC gallery.

    Screening for PAL Shows -- Participating in art shows is one of the privileges of PAL membership. All screened members are encouraged to participate in our Members' Shows, Specialty Shows (e.g. Plein Air Show or Net Shed Show) and the on-going TCC shows. Screenings take place three times a year: in February, May and September, immediately prior to the general meeting.
